Girl From the North Country

So, for those interested, I set-up a drabblefest for Seven & Ace (Doctor Who), and it can be found at the new writing journal I just set up for myself: Seven/Ace Drabblefest!

And speaking of that, I figured I'd set up a writing journal for things like that, pertaining to fic from different fandoms, so I don't clutter up my personal LJ quite so much. If you care to add me, le writing journal is [info]thedunesea. Why yes, I do aspire to be a reclusive, old, semi-crazy, retired Jedi Knight.

I was thinking there should be a Seven/Ace Drabblefest. I've been seeing lots of drabblefest/drabble-athons (and various other monikers) lately, and thought there should be one specifically for this pairing. Trouble is, I'm not sure how many people would participate, or even how to advertise it. And it wouldn't be limited solely to 'shippy drabbles, either. But I thought, perhaps, it could be fun. Any of you know people who would possibly be interested, and where would be a good place to advertise? I figure I could just host it in my journal, or possibly on a community, if one allowed it.

Title: Bodies Into Pillars of Light
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters/Pairing: Seven/Ace
Rating: G
Disclaimer: The characters here are the property of the BBC, and I make no claims to them.
Summary: The Doctor and Ace come to some realizations about themselves, and each other.
Notes: The title is lovingly nicked from a Mary Oliver poem, "In Blackwater Woods".

She had touched the smooth, esoteric edges of the universe, and was immutably linked with the one creature who was doomed to mend its holes in perpetuity. )

Title: Catharsis
Fandom: Doctor Who + Sarah Jane Adventures
Rating: G
Disclaimer: Alas, the characters do not belong to me.
Characters: Seventh Doctor, Maria Jackson (SJA)
Summary: The Doctor is accorded a moment of quiet comfort as he reflects on someone he left behind, and someone he's gained.
Notes: Soooo...[info]hearts_blood and I had this idea for an AU where a more aged Seventh Doctor (because he was rather fond of babies and slightly more paternalistic than other incarnations) is semi-involved in Maria Jackson's life, sort of as a grandfather/father figure, and I wanted to write this piece. And I also suppose (along with others!) that Maria Jackson is the granddaughter of Ben and Polly Jackson. :) So...full circle. In this fic, Maria is a few months old.

I might tell you, someday, what you've done, what you're doing...for my hearts that live in silence for too many years at a time. )

title: And You'll Know When I Must Leave
author: Kristin
disclaimer: I never have, and never will, own these characters. And the world shall mourn.
fandom: doctor who [fourth doctor character study]
summary: the fourth doctor indirectly reflects on himself as he takes a newfound friend home
notes: I wanted to explore Four's psyche just a tad, so as a result, it's more about him than any other characters. I didn't want to focus on specific companions, so that's why I've got more of just an incidental character in there to help the story along. Enjoy!

Well, that's the trouble, you see. I miss everyone. )

title: more than just a memory
author: kristin
rating: pg
disclaimer: characters have never been mine
fandom: doctor who; [fourth doctor, sarah jane, last doctor]
summary: in his last life, the doctor reflects on a dead companion
notes: My attempt at a really heartwrenching retrospective on Sarah, through what I posit as the Doctor's last regeneration, making it, I hope, even more poignant. I want to give a heartfelt thank you to [info]hearts_blood, who really helped me collect and condense my thoughts into something a bit more coherent. Sorry to Flogging Molly for nicking the title from one of their songs, but they know I love them. And since the memory of Sarah is meant to be from the Doctor's perspective, I did my best not to infer or inject too much thought on Sarah's part, as the Doctor wouldn't have known what Sarah was thinking. Uh...hope it works. Enjoy. Feedback always appreciated. :)

And so he tells you now, because he's never told anyone: Sarah Jane is dead. )

Emerging from the depths to post a Fourth Doctor-era Doctor Who story. And my descent into madness does not cease, but rather continues with increased expediency. ;D

title: lightning in sapphire
author: Kristin
rating: harmless :)
pairing: four/sarah (more just a best friend fic...because they are)
disclaimer: I never have, and never will, own these characters. And the world shall mourn that. Maybe.
summary: A day of relaxation for the Doctor and Sarah, as they visit a planet with an interesting daily nocturnal event

I actually wrote a Without a Trace fic. It's been...a long time since I have. I think some of you know why. Anyway, this is short and purposely disjointed, trying to parallel literally how I imagine Sam was feeling at this point. If you're inclined to read it, feedback is welcomed and appreciated. :D

title: when the stars run out of fuel
author: kristin
rating: innocent
summary: Does a star really burn out, or does it just get tired of clinging to the sky? [ Samantha introspection ]
disclaimer: If I owned this show, I would still be watching it
notes: Takes place shortly after Fallout, because it was one of the most beautiful episodes of a show, ever

Just finished another Law and Order: Criminal Intent fic. Eames-centric, because I love her so.

title: Hemophiliacs Always Bleed to Death
author: Kristin
rating: pg
disclaimer: The characters belong to Dick Wolf. If they were mine, I'd buy a farm in Portugal and herd sheep for a living. I'm sure Mr. Wolf spends his money more wisely, and that is why he owns them.
summary: An anniversary, and the loneliness that comes with walking through walls
